Do you ever feel like giving up on your dreams? Are you discouraged and believe your circumstances will never improve? You know the drill; your thoughts wander into never-ever land.
You think, “I’ll never find a new job, save money, buy a home, get out of debt, or reach my dreams.”
In life we all want to experience success, but success doesn’t come easy.
When you feel like giving up on your dreams there’s one thing to remember.
First, I know what it’s like to be tempted to give up.
I’ve been an entrepreneur for nine years.
Yes, it’s cool that I can set my own hours or work from home in my PJs.
Truth bomb: nothing about being an entrepreneur is easy and most businesses fail. Entrepreneurship is very hard and it’s easy to give up on dreams.
Being in business for almost a decade is something that I’m incredibly proud of because according to Bloomberg 8 out of 10 businesses fail within the first 18 months. There are many times I’ve experienced roadblocks and wanted to quit.
I can look back on my journey so far and say, “What the heck was I thinking?” Or, “I wish I would have done X, Y, Z, thing differently.”
There’s one thing I’ve gotten right.
When you feel like giving up on your dreams remember this mantra:
I will persist until I succeed.
I can’t take credit for this simple, but brilliant advice. This principle is from reading Og Mandino’s book, The Greatest Salesman in the World.
The book teaches about sales and business in a non-sleazy way. It isn’t a book about business tactics, but instead life principles.
In the business world trends come and go, but principles always remain.
For example, in your financial life in just a year’s time financial trends change. What the hottest stock is, will change. Tax laws, deductions, and rates fluctuate. There’s also a good chance your pay and bills won’t be the same.
Almost everything in your financial life will change.
Principles remain.
Persistence is a principle that’ll help when you feel like giving up on your dreams.
If you need strength and courage when you feel like giving up on your dreams, try and try again. Persist until you succeed.

You can do it too!
Here are some juicy thoughts and ideas, that I can’t take credit for, but I hope they inspire you as much as they did me.
These are three quotes are from The Greatest Salesman in the World that’ll help you persist until you succeed.
1. Carry on: keep taking the next steps
“The prizes of life are at the end of each journey, not near the beginning; and it is not given to me to know how many steps are necessary in order to reach my goal. Failure I may still encounter at the thousandth step, yet success hides behind the next bend in the road. Never will I know how close it lies unless I turn the corner.”
2. Small actions, repeated matter
“I will be likened to the rain drop which washes away the mountain, the ant who devours a tiger, the star which brightens the earth, the slave who builds a pyramid. I will build my castle one brick at a time for I know that small attempts, repeated, will complete any undertaking. I will persist until I succeed.”
3. It’s not personal, it’s a numbers thing
“I will remember, the ancient law of averages and I will bend it to my good. Each frown I meet only prepares me for the smile to come. Each misfortune I encounter I will carry in it the seed of tomorrow’s good luck. I must have the night to appreciate the day. I must fail often to succeed only once. I will persist until I succeed.”
Never give up on your dreams. Remember to persist until you succeed.
