How to RAMP Up Your Life with Darlene Templeton

RAMP Up Your Life with Darlene Templeton

Are you in a funk? Do you want to ramp up your life, but not sure what needs to change? Or better yet, how to change?

Darlene Templeton worked her way up from a secretary to an executive with IBM, and managed multi-million-dollar projects. Darlene is a professional speaker, business strategist, executive coach, and author!

She’s been a guest speaker with Fortune 100 companies, created the Amazing Women’s Alliance, and designed her signature RAMP program.

RAMP Up Your Life with Darlene Templeton.

In this interview with Darlene Templeton you’ll learn how to RAMP up your life by recognizing your leadership skills and value, being your authentic self, motivating and engaging with others, and developing your purpose and plan.

R- Recognize your Leadership Skills and Value

Do you struggle to find out what your value or your worth is? If you can’t recognize your leadership skills and value Darlene recommends listing the biggest three accomplishments you’ve had in your personal or professional life within the last six months.

“Then, see what skills helped you achieve those three accomplishments,” said Darlene.

For example, if you recently ran your first 5k, that took the leadership skills of dedication, commitment, hard work, and training.

A- Be Authentic

We all wear masks and present ourselves how we want the world to see us. To RAMP up your life Darlene said, “The mask has to come off. You have to decide that you are enough exactly the way you are. We can’t be perfect.”

Or in other words, her favorite saying is from Maya Angelou, “If you are always trying to be normal, you’ll never know how amazing you can be.”

If you’re trying to be everything to everyone you end up not taking care of yourself. She encourages people to be human. It’s ok to say, ‘I’m a hot mess right now.’

M- Motivate, Engage, and Influence Others

Darlene said that it’s important to engage with people. If you’re in a funk, don’t isolate yourself. If left alone, you’ll spiral downward.

“We need to be surrounded by people that lift us up. Find your tribe and your support system,” she said.

She recommends engaging with others by doing something simple. Volunteer, have coffee, or do an activity that takes you out of your daily routine.

P- Develop your Purpose and Plan

We all have a vision of what we think our life should look like. Life doesn’t always go as planned. “You have to have Plan A, B, C, and Z,” said Darlene.

As you develop your purpose and plan in life, she explains that might mean letting go of your initial idea or thought. Sometimes you make a bad decision or a decision on partial information. Darlene said, “You have to be prepared for change and accept it. Change is inevitable. Be prepared to fail and learn from the things that didn’t work.”

Find out what you enjoy doing and that makes you smile.

Of course, I asked her about finances too.

“Know your finances. Whether you are in the corporate world or an entrepreneur you have to understand the money. If you don’t, you can lose your business,” she said.

If you’re in a funk, you can RAMP up your life!
