Two-years ago, I sold everything I owned and started living full-time in a RV! I’ve mostly parked my RV in my home base, Austin, Tx with many RV renovations and fails!). It’s my rv-iversary.
Now, I’ve hit the road with a mission to travel to states I haven’t experienced yet!
First stop: Sedona, Arizona!
I wanted to see Red Rock State Park and cross Devil’s Bridge (it’s not as dangerous as it sounds, lol!). The drive from Austin to Sedona was LONG considering around every two hours I needed to refill my tank!
I have a SUV to tow my small 20-foot travel trailer. Believe it or not, it isn’t very difficult hauling a travel trailer. The hardest part for me was packing up my RV so things like flowerpots don’t break when driving and connecting my RV to the tow hitch.
Alright… yes there were a couple of instances when I needed to back up and it was a little tricky, but I made it!
After a couple of travel days (and hundreds spent on gas!), I made it to Sedona.
For most of this trip I’m boondocking and camping for free! In Sedona, I camped out in Coconino National Forest with a view of Sedona’s famous red rocks. I hiked through Red Rock State Park with a guided tour.
Then, the next day I made a trek to the infamous Devil’s Bridge.
Next Stop: The Grand Canyon
After two nights in Sedona, I headed north to the Grand Canyon. I arrived just in time for sunset views on the South Rim. Luck would have it, I went to Grand Canyon on the exact day they have FREE entrance to the park. It’s normally $35!
Coincidence?! Nope, I think it’s the frugal law of attraction. I exude frugal vibes into this universe, and the universe responds with free entrance fees to the Grand Canyon!
After breathtaking sunset views of the Grand Canyon, I camped out in woods again for free just 15-minutes away in Kaibab National Forest! The next morning I hiked the South Kaibab Trail and loved it! It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure (and a WAY better workout than Stairmasters!).
California: Sand dunes and Pismo Beach
After getting my desert fix and another long stretch on the road I made it to Cali and Pismo beach. This beach is known for massive sand dunes and it did not disappoint. I drove my SUV and RV out on the shoreline to enjoy a morning on the beach. It was magical making breakfast in my home and then opening the door to the ocean views.
I’ll be heading up the coast and making many more beach pit stops up to Oregon and Washington this week! Stay tune for more RV travel adventures.
